Super Bowl

Frito Lay

Gave Hispanic-owned businesses an economic boost in advance of the Super Bowl

The Challenge

As the Super Bowl nears, many small businesses know this moment is a huge opportunity to potentially double or even triple their typical weekend revenue, but they’re not fully equipped for the influx of the weekend. Many don’t have the means to stock up on inventory, staff-up in advance for quicker service or extended hours, or even train their staff in preparation to meet the increased demand. For those that do find a way, they are taking risks with loans or dipping into personal savings, which is daunting.

The Idea

This year, PepsiCo helped close the gap in time for The Big Game for five Phoenix-area small businesses. PBNA and Frito-Lay donated $50,000 to the Hispanic-owned businesses to support operational enhancements in advance of the game. Actor, producer and activist Wilmer Valderrama helped surprise two business owners with a surprise visit and check ceremony. The businesses also received free business-building services through the PepsiCo Juntos Crecemos Hispanic Digital & Delivery Program to strengthen their online presence and maximize their revenue potential leading up to and during Super Bowl weekend.
